GaN Systems Cup 8th University Power Electronics Application Design Competition

The launch ceremony was hosted by Dean Yuan Xibo of the School of Electrical Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology. Dr. Zhang Jinfa, Vice President of the China Power Supply Society, and Mr. Cai Shihua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of China University of Mining and Technology, delivered speeches on behalf of the organizer and the organizer respectively. Also present were Professor Du Xiong of Chongqing University, Vice Chairman of the China Power Supply Society, Professor Tang Tianhao of Shanghai Maritime University, Vice Supervisor of the China Power Supply Society, Professor Sun Yaojie of Fudan University, Executive Director of the China Power Supply Society and Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee, Professor Zhang Junming of Zhejiang University, Professor Wang Gaolin of Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Pei Yunqing of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Professor Pei Yunchang of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Pei Yunqing from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Associate Researcher Chen Cai from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Associate Researcher Chen Qiang from Hefei University of Technology, Ms. Chen Ran from Airtex Electronics, Dr. Huang Minchao from Minye Information Technology (Shanghai) and Professor Wu Xiaojie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering of China University of Mining and Technology.

After the launch ceremony, Prof. Yu Dongsheng of China University of Mining and Technology, Secretary General of the 9th GaN Systems Cup Power Electronics Application Design Competition, hosted a tutorial session and introduced the main design points and technical requirements of the competition, as well as the timeline for the mid-term evaluation and final round. Ltd. and Hunan Aihua Group Co., Ltd. brought professional technical advice to the teams, including the use of GaN devices, related performance and cutting-edge technology in the industry, as well as the characteristics and applications of current sensors and aluminum electrolytic capacitors, which helped the teams to complete the design work more smoothly. Ltd, a designated supplier of test equipment, and Minye Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, a provider of EMI testing instruments, introduced the electrical performance testing methods and EMI testing methods for the final stage. Zhu Shuangxi, the representative of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Grand Prize winning team of the 8th University Power Electronics Application Design Competition, introduced the experience of team organization, schedule control and on-site debugging to the students of this year's competition, while Dr. Wang Zihao from China University of Mining and Technology shared his experience in the application of GaN devices.

The "GaN Systems Cup" 9th University Power Electronics Application Design Competition Launching Ceremony and Counseling Session promoted mutual communication among the participating teams, helped them understand the competition requirements more comprehensively, and received technical guidance related to the competition, which laid a good foundation for improving the quality of this competition. This event was also one of the special activities of the Chinese Power Supply Society to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Power Supply Society and the National Science and Technology Workers' Day.

In the same period of the launching ceremony, the competition organizing committee held a meeting of the judging committee to evaluate the project proposals registered for the competition, and selected 60 teams to enter the preliminary round.
